Sound synthesis for auralizations of complex urban scenarios

Acoustic virtual reality is used for noise studies in urban areas. The acoustic simulation includes sound synthesis of multiple sources – such as cars, trains and aircrafts – and convolution with according impulse responses of the urban surrounding.
This thesis / work includes measurements and the development of environmental noise source synthesizers. Subsequently, the syntheses are used in auralizations of complex urban scenarios with the open-source software VA, developed at IHTA.
