In a computer-generated environment it is important that the user can perceive a "virtual reality" with various senses (e.g. seeing, hearing, touching, feeling etc.) and interact with it in real time. That is difficult. The seemingly simple situation to simulate a movable sound source in a room and to make the result perceivable by the recipient (through auralization) requires a detailed computer model of sound source and sound transfer. Finally the result should be reproduced three-dimensionally for the user and adapted to changing room conditions (interaction) in real time.
