Seminar: Lithium-Ion Batteries for Onboard Networks, Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Thursday, September 19, 2019, 8am

For hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles and electric drive systems, lithium-ion batteries are a key component in terms of cost, performance, and reliability. Understanding the battery gives you a competitive edge! With lithium-ion batteries, essential concerns are: economic viability, technology, and safety.

In the seminar "Lithium-Ion Batteries for Vehicle Electrical Systems, Hybrid, and Electric Vehicles," the RWTH partner Haus der Technik will address the requirements of battery storage in vehicles and the basics of lithium-ion batteries explicitly and provide comprehensive insight into the state of the art and trends. Furthermore, it will be reported how batteries in electric vehicles have behaved in recent years. The focus will be on aging effects, battery lifetimes, and safety aspects in the transport and operation of high-voltage batteries. Professor Dirk-Uwe Sauer from the I nstitute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives will lead the seminar.
