For virtual room acoustics simulations a good binaural synthesis is needed. This allows virtual sound sources to be placed at arbitrary directions. This is achieved using head-related transfer functions (HRTFs). These functions can be described as a frequency dependent directivity with fine spatial structure. This work should focus on noticeable differences of this fine spatial structure of head-related transfer function data. It is assumed that only a certain amount of detail is needed for most binaural synthesis application. An investigation into a just noticeable difference will give an upper limit on the amount of detail. To this end, a listening test needs to be planned and executed
