Electroacoustics comprises all methods and all techniques related to the transformation, recording, reproduction, amplification, and processing of sound signals. It is consequently occupied with the transducers (microphones and loudspeakers), the related electronic systems (amplifier, AD- and DA- converters, signal processing analogous and/or digital etc.), as well as the storage techniques for audio (tape, record, CD, DAT, MD etc.). Points of contact with almost all other sub-areas of acoustics result by the use of electroacoustic components in acoustical measurement technology (microphones, AD converters etc.) or architectural acoustics through the PA-systems.
Main research activities in the ITA are related to digital signal processing using DSP systems, dummy head recording and reproduction techniques, as well as to transducer research (namely modelling and measuring techniques).
