Most acoustic signals in our everyday environment are complex in nature and carry particular „spatial“ information. Human beings and animals use natural signals for orientation and communication. The role of technical signals in the fields of human communication and information and communication technology in a modern work environment is constantly increasing.
At the Institute for Technical Acoustic at the RWTH Aachen artificial head technology has been one of the focus points of study for many years. We have studied digital methods of HRTF measurements, methods of quality control for artificial heads and headphones as well as the development of an improved approach to defining and construction artificial heads.
